AYSO Region 47 is focused on providing the best program possible.  To continue to provide a top player experience we are looking for volunteers to help with the following positions:

Volunteer Position Descriptions

Referee Administrator: 
The Regional Referee Administrator (RRA) – is one of the 7 required Regional Board positions as specified in the National Bylaws and Standard Regional Policies and Protocols. The RRA position is intended to implement, monitor, and maintain the AYSO National Referee Program including program delivery, staff development, communication, and coordination at the regional level. EXTRA/SELECT Coordinator:  The Extra and Spring Select Coordinator identifies higher level coaches and players to play throughout southern California.  They attend regional meetings and help coordinate tryouts and coach interviews to provide the highest level of Region 47 teams to play in the Extra and Select circuits.  

Coach Mentors: Coach Mentors work alongside the volunteer coaches to provide guidance on player development and support the coaches throughout the season.  Coach Mentors will be focused on helping new coaches learn how to positively work with the youth and develop coaches abilities to conduct training practices that help develop the players to be the best that they can be.  If you are interested in this role, please email [email protected]

Referee Mentors:
 The Referee Mentor is focused on helping new referee talent improve and progress through the referee system.  The ideal candidate will be positive, encouraging, understanding, and have a basic knowledge of the laws of the game and referee mechanics.  It is never required to have all the LAWS memorized.  If you are interested in this role, please email  [email protected]

Referee Instructors: Referee Instructors play a crucial role in the development of referees and the overall success fo AYSO.  AYSO referee training is designed to provide education to referees and prospective referees that will allow them to officiate AYSO soccer matches in accordance with the FIFA Laws of the Game and the AYSO National Rules and Regulations. It is the intent of the AYSO National Referee Program to provide practical, incremental referee training that will ensure consistency throughout AYSO.  As an instructor you will be trained in the laws of the game and how to teach to prospective Referees in a manner that will make them proficient on the field of play.  If you are interested in this role, please email [email protected]

Division Coordinators: A Division Coordinator arranges teams and schedules games to create the most opportunities to play for each player.  A Division Coordinator will help find coaches, organize and balance the team rosters, and help monitor coaches for adherence to the Safe Haven guidelines. Safety Director: The Safety Director is to serve as the Region focal point for Safety Awareness and Insurance Information.If you are interested in this role, please email [email protected]

CVPA Director: The CVPA serves as the Safe Haven program representative in the local Region, Area or Section.

The primary responsibilities of the CVPA include:

  • Screening Volunteers at the local level.
  • Working with the Regional Board to ensure all approved volunteers are registered and assigned to their specific positions.
  • Working with the Regional Coach Administrator, Regional Referee Administrator and Regional Commissioner to ensure that all coaches, referees and volunteers are properly trained and certified and that they receive an annual Safe Haven protocol review.
  • Serving as a contact for child abuse, child protection concerns.
  • Working with the Regional Commissioner to ensure mandated reporting of suspected child abuse.

Treasurer: The Treasurer is responsible for acting within the scope of AYSO’s financial policies, procedures and guidelines to safeguard the Region’s monies and assets. Treasurers play a vital role in protecting AYSO’s non-profit status. If you are interested in this role, please email [email protected]

RegistrarRegistrar’s role is to organize and implement the annual registration of players and volunteers.

The primary responsibilities of the Registrar include:

  • Planning the annual registration of all players and volunteers with the CVPA and Treasurer.
  • Maintaining a waiting list for players who sign up after teams are balanced and filled.
  • Reconciling registrations forms with fees paid for each registration event.
  • Ensuring all players are registered.
  • Ensuring the National Player Fees are paid.
